Klein: Privacy Policy
Last updated 9 October 2026.
This policy covers the iPhone app Klein: Video Compressor, published by Setout Labs LLC ("we"). It explains what stays on your iPhone, what leaves it, and how to delete your data. Our company-wide privacy policy covers this website and our other products.
The short version
- Klein: Video Compressor is a free iPhone app with no account, no purchases and no advertising.
- We collect nothing. The app has no server, no sign-in and no third-party SDK — no analytics, no advertising and no crash-reporting service. It makes no network requests. Compression runs on your iPhone, so your videos are never uploaded to us. Its privacy manifest declares no tracking.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites, show ads, or sell your data.
What stays on your iPhone
Your originals stay in Photos, untouched. Klein writes each compressed copy into its own storage on your iPhone, with a local database row recording the batch, the source and output sizes and whether a Photos save succeeded. A few small app-state flags, such as your appearance choice and which result you last dismissed, are stored in iOS user defaults. Nothing expires on a schedule; copies stay until you remove them.
A copy you save to Photos is then managed by Photos under your own iCloud and backup settings. Apple's device backups and transfers may include the app's local files. If you share a copy, the app or person you send it to handles it under their own terms.
Permissions
- Choosing videos. Klein uses the system video picker. Only the videos you pick are handed to the app, so it needs no permission to read your library and cannot browse it.
- Photos (add only). Requested the first time you tap Save to Photos, so a finished copy can be written to your library. Add-only access cannot read your existing photos or videos.
The app requests no camera, microphone, location or contacts access.
What leaves your iPhone
We do not collect data from this app.
What we do not do
We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not show ads or use advertising networks. We do not sell or rent your data.
Deleting your data
Open a copy and tap Delete copy, or swipe it away in the list. That removes the app's file and its record. The original in Photos stays, as does anything you already saved or shared. Removing the app deletes all of its local copies, records and preferences.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to its use, and to complain to your data protection authority. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If we learn that a child under 13 (or the minimum age where they live) has given us personal data, we will delete it. Parents or guardians who believe this has happened should email us.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. For material changes we will give notice before they take effect.
