Easy QR & Barcode Generator: Privacy Policy

Last updated 2 November 2026.

This policy covers the iPhone app Easy QR & Barcode Generator, published by Setout Labs LLC ("we"). It explains what stays on your iPhone, what leaves it, and how to delete your data. Our company-wide privacy policy covers this website and our other products.

The short version

  • Easy QR has no account and no sign-in. It doesn't ask for your name or email.
  • The codes you make, what's in them, your library and any logo or photo you add stay on your iPhone. We have no server for them and never receive them.
  • The app uses Mixpanel for usage analytics, Sentry for crash reports, and Apple's attribution service to learn whether an install came from one of our Apple Ads campaigns. Purchases go directly through Apple.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites, show ads, or sell your data.

What stays on your iPhone

Easy QR keeps these in the app's own storage:

  • the codes you save to your library: their title, contents, type and style;
  • your current draft for each code type;
  • logos and photo backgrounds you add, copied from the photo you pick;
  • your export settings, theme and when the app last asked for a rating.

Exported files are written to temporary storage and handed to the iOS share sheet; where they go is your choice. Apple's device backups may include the app's files.

Scanning

When you scan a code with the camera or from a photo, Easy QR reads it on your iPhone and shows what it contains. Scanned values are not saved and are not sent anywhere. If you choose to open a link, join a Wi-Fi network or add a contact from a scan, that happens in Safari, iOS Wi-Fi settings or the Contacts app.

Permissions

Camera. Used only to scan codes. If you say no, you can still scan from a photo; you can turn the camera on later in iPhone Settings → Easy QR.

Add to Photos. Used only when you save an exported code to your photo library. Easy QR cannot read your library.

Notifications. Asked only after you start a free trial with the reminder on, to remind you two days before the charge.

Photos you pick for a logo, a photo background or a scan come through the iOS photo picker, which shares only the photo you choose. Adding a contact or joining a Wi-Fi network from a scan goes through iOS screens that ask you to confirm. Easy QR requests no location, microphone, contacts or Health access, and no permission to track.

Usage analytics (Mixpanel)

Mixpanel receives usage events tied to a random identifier the Mixpanel library creates for this installation, along with device details it adds, such as device model and iOS version. The events are:

  • the app opening, and which screen you open;
  • the code type you pick, which style control you change, and whether a code passed its scan test (with the reason if not);
  • an export starting, finishing or failing, with the format, size and whether the code was styled;
  • that you completed a scan or copied a scanned value, never what it said;
  • the rating prompt being considered or shown, or the App Store review page being opened from Settings;
  • the upgrade screen opening, closing or failing to load, the plan you pick, and a purchase or restore starting, completing or failing, with the product, plan type and period, list price and currency, and whether a trial applies.

Each event also carries the app version and build, your device's region setting (country) and whether you have Easy QR Pro. If the install came from one of our Apple Ads campaigns, one attribution event carries those campaign identifiers (see below).

The app tells Mixpanel not to use your network address to estimate your location; it sends the country from your device settings instead. What's in your codes, what you type, file names, your photos and scanned values are never sent. The app does not use Mixpanel's automatic event collection.

Apple Ads attribution

When Easy QR first opens (or on a later launch, if that attempt fails), it asks iOS for an attribution token and sends it to Apple's attribution service, which replies whether the install came from one of our Apple Ads campaigns and, if so, the campaign, ad group and keyword identifiers. Easy QR sends that reply to Mixpanel as described above. The token itself is not sent to Mixpanel. This uses no advertising identifier and no tracking permission.

Crash reports (Sentry)

If the app crashes or hits an error, Sentry receives a report with the error, the code location (stack trace), the app version, device model and iOS version. To count sessions without a crash, Sentry also receives when each app session starts and ends, with a random installation identifier. The app removes error message text and any user details before a report is sent, does not attach screenshots, and does not send performance timing. Sentry keeps reports under the retention settings of our account with it.

Purchases (Apple)

Easy QR buys and restores Easy QR Pro directly through Apple. The app checks your Pro status with Apple on your iPhone. Apple handles payment through your Apple ID; we never see your card or billing details.

Emailing support

If you choose Contact support in Settings, your mail app opens a message to us with your app version, iOS version, device model and the time already filled in. You can delete any of it before sending.

Where data is processed

Mixpanel and Sentry process data in the United States. Where the law requires it, transfers from the EEA, UK or Switzerland rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses.

What leaves your iPhone

Our app and service providers collect the following data for the stated purposes. None of it is used to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

  • Diagnostics → Crash Data: App Functionality; not linked to you.
  • Diagnostics → Other Diagnostic Data: App Functionality; not linked to you.
  • Identifiers → Device ID: Analytics, App Functionality; not linked to you.
  • Purchases → Purchase History: Analytics; not linked to you.
  • Usage Data → Advertising Data: Analytics; not linked to you.
  • Usage Data → Product Interaction: Analytics; not linked to you.

We use two service providers. They process data only on our behalf, and we require each to give your data the same or equivalent protection as this Privacy Policy.

  • Mixpanel (usage analytics). Receives the usage events described under Usage analytics (Mixpanel) above, including the Apple Ads campaign identifiers.
  • Sentry (crash reports). Receives the crash and error reports described under Crash reports (Sentry) above.

What we do not do

Easy QR does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, does not use the advertising identifier, and shows no ads. Its privacy manifest declares no tracking. We do not sell or rent your data.

Deleting your data

To remove a saved code, swipe it left in Library and tap Delete. Removing the app deletes everything Easy QR stores on your iPhone and stops all collection. An Easy QR Pro purchase stays with your Apple ID. Apple's device backups may still hold a copy, and codes you exported stay where you sent them.

Analytics events and crash reports are tied to random identifiers, not to your name or email. To ask for access to them or their deletion, email us and say it's about Easy QR and which iPhone you use, so we can find the right records.

For data held by our service providers, email us at support@setout.ai and we will respond within 30 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to its use, and to complain to your data protection authority. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If we learn that a child under 13 (or the minimum age where they live) has given us personal data, we will delete it. Parents or guardians who believe this has happened should email us.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above. For material changes we will give notice before they take effect.
